Confidence is built on choices and accomplishment that feed your passion and make you feel happy and proud, and is one of the most worthwhile pursuits of your life. Successful people credit their sense of self and their confidence to their success. Confident people inspire confidence in their: audience, peers, bosses, customers, and friends. And gaining their confidence is one of the key ways in which a self-confident person finds success. Confident Person speaks clearly, holds his or her head high, answers questions assuredly, and readily admits when he or she does not know something. Your level of self-confidence is reflected in your behaviour, your body language, way you communicate, and accepting compliments graciously. Ways to begin building your confidence areas under:
Confidence is built on accomplishment as you feel much better on your achieving small or big goals and it begins with your accomplishing the day-to-day goal that gradually leads you to meeting weekly, monthly, quarterly goal, which brings you in the range of your bi-annual and annual goals as the progress is incremental, and big changes do not happen overnight. You set an ambitious goal because you believe you can meet it and go for it.
Quantify your accomplishments and monitor your progress by breaking your goals, big or small into smaller goals as the best way to accomplish them. Your goals of getting into a better College, getting a better Job, getting promoted, changing Careers or even maintaining your health, has to be planned and progressively monitored to help you stay on course, and this builds confidence as you see the progress you are making in real time.
Make decisions based on value system, as confident people live by a value system, even when it is hard and in the interest of the greater good. Your actions and your decisions define your character. Decide about the best version of yourself that you aspire to, and do it, even if it is really hard and it is the last thing you want to do. It may be a short-term sacrifice on your part but in the long run you are going to like yourself more and feel proud of it. Do what you believe to be right, even if others mock or criticize you for it.
Long-term goals bring far more happiness in the long run, whereas short-term goals may bring you comfort but that may impede long-term goals. Your long-term preparations for competitive examinations lead you to accomplishing your goals of getting into the merit list and joining the aspired career. Big goals require big sacrifices, you have to dig deep and really discipline yourself. In the moment it is tedious and frustrating and makes life significantly harder, but it will pay off, and the pride you feel will be worth it. Be willing to take risks and go the extra mile to achieve better things.
Keep achievement above fear and think about achieving your goal, put your fear to the side, and keep going, one day at a time. Fearing failure truly cripples you and failure is not the enemy, people learn from failures. Admit mistakes and learn from them. Set big goals and have big dreams, you are going to feel overwhelmed, and you may inevitably get fearful and in such moments you have to introspect, gather every bit of courage you have and just keep going. Every single wildly successful person did at some or the other moment get afraid, keeping aside the fear, kept working and taking risks anyway, because trying to accomplish was more important and urgent than the fear of failure, in the end accomplished with confidence.
Exercising helps memory retention, improves focus, helps manage stress and prevents depression, besides benefitting your health in general. Exercise improves every aspect of your life. It is harder to be anxious when there is no excess energy to draw upon, and outside of being difficult uncomfortable at times, so stay active, and create time to take of yourself.
Think about your strengths, use SWOT analysis by looking at your achievement log, and reflecting on your recent life. Set goals that exploit your strengths, win over your weaknesses, realise your opportunities, and control the threats you face. Make sure that you enjoy a few minutes reflecting on your strengths! Setting and achieving goals is a key part of this, and real confidence comes from this. Goal setting is the process you use to set yourself targets, and measure your successful hitting of those targets. And having set the major goals in your life, identify the first step in each. Make sure it’s a very small step, perhaps taking no more than an hour to complete!
