Shri Bhupendra—Thanks to the whole PD group for acknowledging my success and providing me a platform to share my experience.
PD—‘Success is sweet’ were you confident of your success with top ranks and how did you react to this news ?
Shri Bhupendra—Yes, I was confident of success though not with such high ranking. I was happy and satisfied that my hard work and efforts finally paid off.
PD—Can you recall the exact moment when you realized the importance of Judicial Services ?
Shri Bhupendra—It was in the last year of law course during which there used to be court visits where I saw the importance of justice to be provided and encouraged me for becoming a judicial officer.
PD—Finally, at what point of time did you make up your mind to make career in ‘Judicial Services’ ?
Shri Bhupendra—It was in the last year of my law course.
PD—Was JSE a planned decision or your parents’ wish ?
Shri Bhupendra—It was my individual decision and my parents and family, members wholly supported it.
PD—Did you keep in mind some time-frame for the examination preparation and number of attempts ?
Shri Bhupendra—Yes, as in U.P there are only 4 attempts. So, I decided to appear in exams only after full preparations.
PD—‘Time Management’ is a key factor. How did you manage things ?
Shri Bhupendra—Yes, time factor is very important. So, I used to solve previous years’ papers be it preliminary or mains, within allotted time. And particularly in mains keeping in mind the distribution of marks to particular questions.

PD—In how many attempts have you achieved this success ?
Shri Bhupendra—It was my second attempt.
PD—You achieved the desired success in this attempt; how do you visualize your previous attempts ?
Shri Bhupendra—In earlier attempt, I could not complete the papers within time and also did not focus on local Acts of U.P.
PD—What was your approach towards Paper I (General Studies) during Preliminary Examination preparation ?
Shri Bhupendra—For preliminary examination particularly for G.S. I used to read Partiyogita Darpan Mainly Half-yearly Issues, Newspapers, and also Hindi Magzine’s Ghatnachakra.
PD—What shift did you adopt in your strategy for Main Examination (Written) ?
Shri Bhupendra—Focus in main exam should be on time management keeping in mind marks allotted for particular question and most important what answer examiner expects.
PD—How did you prepare yourself for Interview (Personality Test)? When and which Board did you face? How did your interview go on, how much time did it last and what were the questions asked during the Interview ?
Shri Bhupendra—I did mock interviews with my friends. It was on 11th April, 2016 in Board of honourable Shri Sunil Kumar Jain. It lasted for about 15 minutes.
Question asked-1 regarding my educational qualification. 2. Removal of President and judges of Supreme Court. 3. Regarding General Clauses Act. 4. Regarding Amendments in crpc and ipc. 5. Vicarious liability. 6. Definition of immovable and movable property 7. Difference between liberty and freedom.

PD—Were you preparing for other career opportunities as well while preparing for your ultimate goal i.e., Career in Judicial Services ?
Shri Bhupendra—My main focus was on judicial preparations, but I had been pursuing my Ph.D. also.
PD—In your opinion at which Educational Level should one start preparing for Judicial Services and what should be the minimum period of time required to prepare for Judicial Services Examinations ?
Shri Bhupendra—One should start at graduation level and one year time is sufficient for preparation.
PD—What is the importance of medium of examination for exams like JSE ?
Shri Bhupendra—It does not make any difference be it any medium in such examination.
PD—Does the educational, financial and demographic status of the family of an aspirant have any impact on the preparation ?
Shri Bhupendra—Yes, it does make a difference but ultimately it is upon the individual’s aims and aspiration that guide a person to move forward.
PD—In your opinion what role do the Competition Magazines play when you are preparing for an examination like Judicial Services ?
Shri Bhupendra—Competition magazines play a very significant role by providing different news and views on various subjects and topics that are important for competitive exams.
PD—How do you find Pratiyogita Darpan ? Do you find it close to your expectations ?
Shri Bhupendra—Partiyogita Darpan is one of such magazines which I have been reading since my intermediate and it has been a significant source of information for preparing general studies paper and essay.
PD—What is the secret of your success ?
Shri Bhupendra—Hard work, determination, patience and support of family.
PD—To whom would you like to give the credit for your success ?
Shri Bhupendra—There are number of person to whom credit of my success goes particularly my coaching mentor Rahul Sir (Rahul’s IAS), my parents and family members especially my chachaji Pratap Singh Shah ADM Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, my friends especially Naveen Rana (Assist. Professor), Pradeep Singh Kandiyalji (Advocate) and lastly my lady luck my fiance.
