Role of Technology in Development of India

The advancement of technology has come to us as God send opportunity to utilize and exploit the same to the best of welfare and progress of humanity in social and economic spheres at large. The innovative developments which are springing up in the age of technological globalization have provided vast space for the governments and multinational agencies, otherwise grappling to find a credible way out to deal with the challenging situations on the role of development to extricate the destitute, the poor and downtrodden out of the debris of miseries, joblessness, and hopelessness. Let us take the case of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) which stress the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications .This technology is helping developing and poor nations with a strong emphasis on fostering economic and social developments and targeting   education and training. The technology has also been disseminating information on gender issues and hence successfully sensitizing the society. Countries like Nigeria, Algeria, Morocco, Thailand, Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia and many other countries are benefitting from it.

Now, the concept of Entrepreneurship is being defined in the framework of technological innovativeness, crucial to economic development around the world because it is the technology which stimulates the brains to create new synergies and direct and redirect them towards betterment of the lot of masses. The new ideas, new business models, and new ways of selling goods and services are all gifts of technological advancement. The technology is aiding and assisting the poor of India to ameliorate their lot in a big way .The Hand in Hand Partnership (HIHP) in the country is propagating the technology as to how women can  use mobile devices to launch businesses in the technology. The organization provides mentorship, training, credit, and technical support. Another noticeable organization which is etching its name in the world of technology and serving the poor of India is the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) with 1.1 million workers associated with .The organization sends agricultural workers SMSs on commodity prices so that farmers cannot be misguided and misled to sell their products and on the basis of the information received from it pool their resources to hone their bargaining skills. As a result of the use this method higher incomes are accruing to the farmers as they are able to keep pace with information on the market, spread over a much wider area.

In an landmark technological achievement   the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has planned to establish partnership with private firms to jointly develop a navigation satellite that could be launched by March 2017. With this launch the space agency will focus on research and space missions. India is also concentrating on the use of its technological resources particularly in construction of maintenance free highways. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for research project to develop technology to build such highways. In agricultural field, in order to perform high-tech Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) analysis, for the agri-biotech, plant seeds breeding, and plant seeds production industries; Intertek Group, a UK-based total quality assurance provider, has launched an Agricultural Technology laboratory in Hyderabad for conducting research in the aforementioned field. Thus, these achievements of India, in the field a technology are innumerable and countless.
